In our weekly roundup of the looks that are gaining fashion ground (and the ones losing their style street cred), we noticed off-the-shoulder dresses continuing to rise in popularity, one piece of jewelry stars are loving for fall and a decline in peekaboo bra action.
Up: Off-the-shoulder dresses. This throwback trend has slowly been gaining momentum in Hollywood, and now that Emma Watson and our Best Dressed Star Kerry Washington have stepped out in off-the-shoulder frocks, they’re definitely a thing. Watson selected a tiered J. Mendel design for the Gravity premiere in N.Y.C. Washington also opted for a white J. Mendel dress featuring sheer stripes at the She’s Making Media event in N.Y.C. .
Up: Full-finger rings. The jewels of the moment: statement rings. Stars are leaving the delicate accessories at home and bling-ing out their digits with big edgy full-finger designs. Emmy Rossum teamed her glittering green Jenny Packham gown with a stunner on her right middle finger (by Amrapali jewelry) at the L.A. Philharmonic’s Walt Disney Concert. Following in her footsteps, Vanessa Hudgens wore a metal ring (that looks like armor) to the ULTA Beauty “Kiss Kart” event in N.Y.C.And Roselyn Sánchez teamed her head-turning gown with two full-finger accessories at the Devious Maids premiere in Rome.
Down: Showing your bra. This trend always ebbs and flows. But recently, stars have either been ditching their bras (helloooo, Kim Kardashian) or not showing them at all. In that context, Jennifer Hudson’s peek of bra showing through her sheer top seems to be a look that’s on the decline.
